Every year on winter solstice, Paul likes to take a screen shot of the sunrise and sunset times. Because it's crazy!
But when the sun is shining...let me tell you what! It's gorgeous! We've been having the prettiest winter. Early on there was frost on frost on frost. The cool thing about frost is you don't have to shovel it! This is the tree in front of our house.
And across the street. What a beautiful world!
Pretty yes, but it's also been a wee bit chilly. So one day we took the tots to run around the tropical greenhouse. They loved it.
Later, after all the frosting, it started snowing. We have been loving it since we didn't get hardly any snow for the last 3 years!!!
We figured it was the perfect time for a winter camping trip. JUST KIDDING!!! (In my opinion, there is no such things as the perfect time for a winter camping trip. Ever.) But we did go to Bass Pro Shop one day. That was fun.
It was maybe 0 degrees for this day of sledding. Fun, but it did not last long.
And then it just kept snowing, burying our trees.
I don't want to be deceptive, so I must come clean. These are pictures of our family outside this winter. But they are pictures of some of the only times we've set foot outside of our cozy little home. I'm really not good at getting us outside. Paul is much better at it. It is yet another thing to chalk up to not being nearly as hardcore as I always thought I was. I thought you just have to bundle them up and go outside. There is so much more to it than that. There are tears and tears. And then you get outside and the snow is literally over their heads...I could go on. But let's just bask in the beauty of the few times we actually made it outside.
It has been a loooong time since I got my camera out. Our life is doomed to be captured by phone cameras! So I finally dusted it off and took a few shots of my little snow bunnies.
And sometimes you get snow down your neck.

Great pics! Am I a bad person if the one of Ezra with snow down his neck is my favorite? The hug at the end is a close runner up 😊
These photos are phenomenal! Pretty pictures of snow and frost almost make me sad I don't live in cold places - almost. The first one of the frosty tree across the street is stunning. And I love seeing Esme run with such abandon through the greenhouse.
We don't take our kids outside in the cold nearly as much as I always expected either. And I feel guilty for it. I keep telling myself that once we're in Midway we will do it all the time, but time will tell if that's really the case.
I will say that once they can get their own snow clothes on, it's a total game-changer. So maybe someday you'll be hardcore?
