Cool Things

This entire post is in response to Macrina's question, "Are your kids doing anything cool lately?"

Why yes, they are!

They really like riding around in laundry baskets.  They also enjoy climbing into their toy basket.  One of my regrets in life is that I was too wrecked after they were born to get any newborn photos.  (How does anyone manage that???) So here they are in a basket, looking cute.  I can now let go of that regret!

They like hanging out on the front lawn.  This day we enjoyed a nice raisin picnic.

By "front lawn" I mean mostly the concrete steps.  No matter how hard I try to lure them on to the nice soft grass, all they want is to climb on the concrete.

And how about that bus?!?!  One night I got up off the couch and there it was, sitting in our neighbor's parking lot.  I enjoyed it being a huge mystery for a few days until Paul found out someone is planning to turn it into a restaurant.  Fun.

They have started cacheing things.  They will get very serious and take every single one of something (books, toys, game pieces) and put them in a spot.  Their favorite spots are behind the flour bucket, the drum with the busted out top, and the laundry baskets.

We have finally liberated them from the stroller while shopping and they LOVE it.

We go on walks most days.  We have been having absolutely lovely weather.  Thank goodness.

We also sometimes rollerblade.  This day we went with Thalassa and Stella.  Sorry for cutting you out of the picture, Thalassa!

One day we found this gem.  What kind of misery prompts someone to put up a sign like this?  I was so tempted to free them from the stroller and let them romp around, picking up pine cones and throwing grass, laughing to their hearts' content.  But I didn't.

Sometimes Esme turns into a boxhead. (I told you they are doing cool things!)

This is our formal Mother's Day portrait.  (Yes, Esme is wearing my socks.  No, I don't know why.)

Ezra got his first haircut on the aforementioned concrete steps.

I thought, "How hard can it be?  I'll just give it a little snip snip."  Turns out to be a little more difficult than planned, but his handsome face can pull off anything.

We even went on a hike!

Okay, okay.  We went on a very short walk.  But it was gorgeous.

Apparently we have grown too big of a family for selfies.  Sorry Ezra!

I am so sad that my new hobby, Monopoly at the grocery store, ended.  We won a grand total of 1 jar of salsa, 1 frozen dinner, 1 pack of gum, 1 Redbox movie, and 1 pack of cookies.  Pretty good!

I'm pretty sure my entire readership has already received this photo via text, but it's so pretty!  And there really isn't much great cooking going on around here lately, so I have to have something to show.

But I digress...back to the babies.  I got asked to help out with youth conference, so Paul took the day off to watch the tots.  They had a ton of fun at the library...

...and of course Cabella's!

We keep putting off getting locks for the cupboards because we might be moving soon.  So sometimes this happens.

And the last but not least cool thing they've been doing lately is giving each other hugs. It's my favorite.

Ohh baby hugs! I love it! They're getting so big! They're turning into little people!

I laughed out loud so many times reading this post! The laundry basket, the cupboard, the caching, etc. Kids are SO much fun! and I cried when I saw the hugs. :)

Ezra's hair looks like it is very surprised to be on top of his head in that picture of him in the stroller outside. Nice job on the hair cut for him! :)

Also, you totally should have taken your kids out and let them play by that sign. That's the rebellious Shug that I know...you gotta revolt now and then!
