Sugar Cubes

We have a friend from Germany who shared a little bit of folklore with us.  In Germany, when people want the stork to bring them a baby, they will leave sugar cubes in a dish on the windowsill to get him to stop at their house.  Well, we didn't have any sugar cubes, but we did have some palm sugar and a tiny dish from Thailand.

It worked!!!  We're having TWINS!!!!  Seriously.  They are in my belly as we speak.

Last year we tried IVF a couple of times and it didn't work so we thought we had put that attempt behind us and were moving forward (as much as we could) with the adoption plan.  Well, late last year we thought since nothing was happening on that front, we might as well try IVF again (with the ultra generous support of my parents!  Thank you Mom and Dad!).  And lo and behold...two little blastocysts made it!  Aren't these rad first baby pictures???

It's been quite the ride getting to this point and we are so so so happy/excited/grateful.  So grateful.  It definitely feels like we just had to wait for the right time and then of course we would get our kids.  So now they're on their way.  It is reassuring and humbling to always see the hand of God in our life, watching over us, taking care of the timing of things and sending us miracles when we need them.

I am 17 weeks along now and this is exactly what I've been doing for the last 17 weeks.

Poor Paul has been so bored without me that he's resorted to taking millions of pictures of me sleeping.  I'm just glad I haven't been sick at all.  Just super duper tired.

Don't worry, I still have a little bit of pep left for cooking, I just need to take a seat while I'm doing it!

YAY BABIES!!!

Shug and Paul, this is the best news I've heard all year! I'm so happy for you and I wish I could give you both a big hug right now! Thanks for sharing the amazing news and know that the four of you are in my prayers. Your family will soon be doubled in size from the last time I saw you, and I can't wait to meet the whole crew. And you can meet our little Olive. She's two months old now and is lighting up my life like crazy!

Love,
Grant

Dear Shug- can I tell you how hard it is to go back in time on your blog and finally find the start of your miracle?! I'm so happy for you and Paul. So happy. May my husband and I please come and see your babies some time? :)
