Harvesting

Do you all remember how every single year since we've been married we've gone blueberry picking?  And do you remember how our grand total collection is maybe up to a cup of blueberries?  We always go to Hatcher Pass because that's where everyone tells us to go.  Remember where we hiked with Nat?  This year we knew we were going to hit it big because we were following some directions a friend of mine (who shall remain anonymous) gave us to his family's super top secret spot.  He would be disowned if his parents ever found out he was divulging this info.  Well, they need not jump the disowning gun.  At one point his directions said, "there's a trail, but its mostly overgrown..."  I think that's where we went wrong.  We ended up plowing our way painfully through th bush.  There was definitely no trail and my legs are still all bruised up.  The good news is, we found ourselves a couple of heavy laden blueberry bushes.  It was the stuff dreams are made of.  I am fairly certain these were not the family secret spot. Unfortuneately we didn't have a lot of time because it was a work night, so we picked as fast as we could and had about a gallon between the two of us before it was time to go home.  Way better than a cup!  We made blueberry rhubarb syrup out of them.  Here's Paul, looking like a farmer.



We took up some of our garden on Saturday.  Kris and Sam Bell, do not judge.

Carrots galore.  Yes some of them are small, but some of them are huge!



And my personal favorite, the peas!  Look how huge they are!  This was our first year trying cabbage and I think they turned out very well.
