The day after we got home from YW camp, Paul got up at 4 am to do some homework and we were on the road by 6:15 am to go dipnetting. I slept the ENTIRE way down there. We rolled in to the south shore of the Kenai River around 10:00 and were in the water soon. And in no time at all, Paul was pulling out fish like nobodies business. He likes to do the Kenai Shuffle, where you walk in super deep, up to your armpits and then let the current drag your net along while you walk beside it. Almost every time he went in, he was catching fish. I even caught some, standing not quite so deep in the water. We ran into the Poulini's that we go to church with and they helped us out a bunch with 4 wheeler rides so that we didn't have to lug our heavy cooler all the way to our car. That was super nice of them.
We definitely hit the timing right this year. We fished as the tide was going out, through low tide and a bit afterwards with the tide coming in. We caught 18 fish at that point. We stopped and had some supper then and planned to go to bed. We were going to finish fishing in the morning, but when Paul saw some of our neighbors catching fish, he decided to go back in. I however, decided not to go anywhere but in my sleeping bag! What a lazy bum. Paul kept working while I was sleeping and he caught 13 more fish, for a total of 31! Our limit is 35, so we decided we were good, packed up and went home. I almost stayed awake the whole drive. Almost. The whole time we were fishing I felt so grateful. I felt grateful to Paul for being such a good man and such a hard worker. I felt grateful to God for watching over us, answering our prayers and providing such a bounty for us. It was the most fun I’ve ever had dipnetting. It was such a perfect week.
The shore was super muddy. So when we would get a fish it would flop around in the mud while we were trying to get it out of the net. I could hardly see out of my glasses!
Our party car/tent for the night.
I don't know why Paul insists on taking pictures like this and I have no idea why I insist on posting them for the world to see.
And now, Nat gets here the day after tomorrow and Mandy the day after that with her baby Nora!!! The fun never stops! What a life!

I'm so glad I'm familiar with this part of your life.
I want to thank Paul for taking a picture of the back of the car.
And I want to thank Paul for taking the picture of all those delicious fish! That is amazing. I'm glad your freezer will be full another season. You guys deserve it.
